Global Data Steward – Master Data (Material, Supplier & Customer)
In this role you are responsible for the governance, integrity and quality of critical enterprise master data across Material- Supplier- and Customer domains. Acting as the subject matter expert and data owner, this role ensures global data standards are defined, implemented, and adhered to across regions and systems, enabling accurate reporting, efficient processes, and compliance with regulatory and business requirements.
Your responsibilities include:
1. Data Governance & Ownership
Act as the global owner for Material, Supplier, and Customer master data
Define and maintain global data standards, business rules, and taxonomies
Collaborate with Data Governance and IT teams to implement and maintain data policies and controls
2. Data Quality Management
Monitor and analyze data quality KPIs across systems and regions
Identify root causes of data issues and drive corrective actions
Manage data cleansing and enrichment initiatives to improve data accuracy and completeness
3. Cross-functional Collaboration
Work with regional/ local data stewards, business units, procurement, supply chain, sales, and customer service teams to ensure consistent master data practices
Serve as the liaison between business users and technical teams for master data enhancements and issue resolution
4. Process & System Integration
Support ERP (e.g., SAP) and MDM (Master Data Management) system implementations and upgrades.
Contribute to data migration and integration efforts during M&A, system consolidation, or new system rollouts.
5. Compliance & Audit Support
Ensure master data compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR)
Support internal and external audits related to master data governance
6. Documentation & Training
Develop and maintain master data process documentation, SOPs, and training materials
Train regional stewards and end-users( key-users on data standards and governance practices
Job requirements
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Data Management, Supply Chain, or a related field
5+ years of experience in master data management, preferably in a global organization
Deep understanding of Material, Supplier, and Customer master data in ERP systems (e.g., SAP ECC/S4HANA)
Experience with MDM tools and data quality tools is a plus (e.g. SAP MDG)
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience with global cross-functional collaboration and multicultural environments
Strong project management skills and ability to lead data initiatives
Change management and process improvement mindset (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma)
Knowledge of data privacy and compliance frameworks
